ACT in Kenya
Overview
Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. The country borders with Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania. It has a shoreline on Lake Victoria in the south west. The capital is Nairobi.
Places of Interest: Lake Nakuru National Park, Mt. Kenya, Mt. Longonot, Nairobi National Park, Masai Mara games reserve.
Situated on the equator on Africa’s east coast, Kenya has been described as “the cradle of humanity”. It encompasses savannah, lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley, mountain highlands and abundant wildlife such as lions, elephants and rhinos.
ACT in Kenya
Our work began in Webuye, Western Kenya in 2012 in partnership with JTAN. In 2017, we began collaborating with Immanuel Afrika Centre in Lusigetti (near Nairobi) resettling street children from Nairobi and weaning them from drugs. The numbers supported has since grown to 13 children.
Our work in Kenya is growing. As part of our goal to enrich the community, we completed a water project in April 2016 that has brought pipe borne water with storage tanks to three villages in Sitikho ward, including Bukunjangabo S A Primary School and has transformed the lives of people in these communities in many significant ways. The project was funded with grants from the UK Lions Club. The availability of continuous water supply has made it possible to start a greenhouse farming project for the widows in Sitikho.
The Greenhouse which was commissioned at the end of April 2016 will enable the needy widows to generate sustainable income to support their families.
