About ACT UK
African Child Trust
ACT is a UK registered charity with the vision to support the education of disadvantaged children and orphans in women led households in Africa. Our aim is to enable them to reach their potential in life. We are empowering women and widows in need, through training, to generate income to sustain their families. Our aim is to break the cycle of poverty among poor people in Africa.
The community in Africa is central to our approach. We therefore work alongside partners that are best placed to recognise the households with the most need in their community. Typically, well-established Christian churches and community-based organisations that share our vision of supporting people in need and have the capacity to operate well-managed and comprehensively monitored projects.
We are currently working in Burkina Faso, Congo DR, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

What We Do
ACT UK is breaking the cycle of poverty among some of Africa’s poorest groups – orphans, fatherless children and widows by educating the children and empowering the women through training to generate income to sustain their families.
Where We Work

Our Impact
By educating children and empowering widows, we are helping them out of poverty and helping to develop their nations. As we come up our 25th anniversary, our work has so far impacted nearly 15,000 children and woman-led families in need in 8 countries across sub-Saharan Africa where we operate.
ACT YOUTH
IDEA
Youth IDEA is our Youth International Development Experience and Awareness initiative in the UK. We are working with schools, churches and youth organisations, including the National Citizen Service (NCS), to raise awareness, provide experience and champion global citizenship among young people in the UK
